2009 COED WINTER VOLLEYBALL LEAGUE REGISTRATION INFORMATION
Admittance into the league is based on residency. Teams having the most in-district players (i.e., players who reside within the THPRD tax assessment boundaries) will be given priority.
LEAGUE REGISTRATION
1.Write to adultvolleyball@thprd.com or call 503/629-6330 for the team roster form. Please list each player's THPRD I.D. card number on teh roster.
2. Rosters must list a minimum of 8 and a maximum of 12 players.
3. Players must be 18 years of age or older and not enrolled in high school. Anyone who has graduated at the age of 17 will be allowed to participate.
4. Only registered players on a league roster may compete in league games.A player may be registered on ONLY one Tualatin Hills coed team.
5. For team acceptance purposes, only the first 10 players listed on the roster will be counted.
6. There will be no maximum number of out-of-district players. Rosters with the most in-district points will be given priority for league entry.
7. All players must have a valid THPRD ID card. Players currently with cards that do not include the 2009 winter season must renew their card prior to submitting on a team roster. Please contact the Athletic Center for information regarding ID cards.
8. Rosters will be checked for accuracy and may be checked by other teams upon request.If a roster has incorrect information on it, the next team on the waiting list may take that team's place in the league.
9. Teams in need of players may pick up a copy of the interest list, which is a list of enthusiastic volleyball players looking for a team, kept at the THPRD Athletic Center. Just stop by the center to request a copy.
10. Teams not meeting the above criteria will be placed on a waiting list.
COED INDUSTRIAL TEAMS
THPRD welcomes teams from businesses within the THPRD boundaries. Following is the information on submitting a roster for an “Industrial” team. All other rules, regulations and procedures apply to the league with the following exceptions for player and roster submittation:
1. Rosters with the most company employees listed will be given priority for league entry if more than maximum number of teams applies. For team acceptance purposes, only the first 10 players listed on the roster will be counted.
2. For each company employee listed on the roster a copy of a current (within three months) pay stub must be submitted with the team roster. The pay stub must list the company name, company address, employee name and date. Pay stubs may have pay information crossed out.
3. Retired Employees: A company roster may include players that have retired from the company. Retirees must provide proof of retirement from the company's HR department listing the date of retirement. Retirees must obtain a THPRD Residency ID card. Out-of-district players must pay the appropriate assessment fee.
4. Rosters may have two (2) non-employees listed. For each non-employee player listed on the roster a copy of a valid THPRD Residency card must be submitted with the roster. Call 503/629-6330 to find out how to receive a THPRD I.D. card.
5. If inadequate I.D. is presented (i.e. no pay stub submitted for an employee), DO NOT put the player on the roster. If this creates less than 8 players on the roster, the team may not be considered for the league.
6. Two teams from “small” companies may combine but must have a minimum of 3 employees from each company on the roster.
7. Industrial teams not meeting the above criteria will be considered as a normal coed team and must following the normal procedures.
GHOST CARDS
1. Teams may purchase a maximum of two THPRD ID cards for emergencies, which will be called "ghost cards".
2. Ghost cards will cost $27 each and must be purchased when the rosters are turned in.
3. Ghost cards can be used when teams are short players for a game. Players must be someone who is not currently playing in the THPRD league.
LEAGUE FEES
$198 per team. Make check payable to Tualatin Hills Park and Recreation District (THPRD)
DEADLINE
1. 7 p.m., TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 25 Team rosters, classification sheet, entry fee AND ghost card fee are due in the THPRD Athletic Center, 15707 SW Walker Road, Beaverton. No mail-in registration accepted.
2. League fees are based on expenses to operate a self-supporting program.
3. League fees include officials, gym supervisor and awards for the top placings in each league.
4. Any team dropping from the league after the league schedules have been completed WILL NOT receive a refund of league fees unless there is a team to take their place.
TEAM SELECTION
1. The maximum number of teams accepted into the league will be 36.
2. Notification of acceptance into the league will be mailed by December 5, 2008.
3. Manager's meeting - There will NOT be a Manager's Meeting for the Coed Volleyball League. Rules, schedules and other information will be emailed to managers by December 12th.
TEAM CLASSIFICATION
1. Teams are asked to contact adultvolleyball@thprd.com or call 503/629-6330 for the team classification form that must be completed and return it with the team roster.
2. Classification decisions will be based on prior play, roster additions and manager's input.Team managers may be called in to help with classification.
3. Teams are placed in a division with teams of similar caliber.
4. Final decision will be made by the Tualatin Hills staff.
LEAGUE PLAY
1. League games will begin the week of January 5, 2009.
2. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays will be used as game nights.
3. Match Times: 7, 8 and 9 p.m.
4. Location: THPRD Athletic Center, 15707 SW Walker Rd., Beaverton
5. Makeups will be scheduled as per day and court availability including Sundays.
6. League awards will be given to the top teams with the best league record in each division.
LEAGUE RULES
1. 2009 USAV rules, plus Tualatin Hills Coed Rule Supplement.
2. Teams must have 3 men and 3 women to play a match. Exception: teams may start with 5 players. If less than 5 players are present, the game is forfeited to the opposing team. If less than 6 players there must be no more than 3 players of the same gender.
3. One official per match will be assigned.
4. A copy of the submitted team roster will be given to the manager on the first day of games.Photo IDs will not be checked prior to each game, however, if a team roster is being challenged by the opponent, the manager must produce the roster copy and photo ID (THPRD ID card, Current Driver's License or State ID - Xerox copies or actual cards) of each player or person(s) being challenged. Players found not to have an acceptable photo I.D. card or not listed on roster will not be eligible to play in that game unless the team has purchased a ghost card.Teams found to be using illegal players or players without proper photo I.D. cards during the match will forfeit the match.
5. If a team forfeits two matches, they will be dropped from the league and forfeit all fees paid.
6. If play is stopped due to interruption by a child, the team on which the children's parent/guardian is with, will be penalized with a point being awarded to the opposing team, if they were serving, or a side out if the offending team was serving.
EQUIPMENT
1.Volleyballs will be provided for warm-ups and game balls.
2. Home team must supply a scorekeeper.
3. Team shirts are not required.
OTHERS
1. Insurance - Insurance will not supplied by THPRD or the Volleyball Steering Committee
2. Roster Additions - Players may be added to the roster up to the 6th league match.Players must allow 2 weeks to receive an I.D. card and may not participate in a match until the card is received.
PRESEASON PRACTICES
1. Teams can sign up for preseason practices when they turn in their roster for practices beginning the week of December 8th (one time per week). After December 8th, if time slots are still available, teams may sign up for 1 additional practice time. THPRD encourages teams to share court times or arrange scrimmages. THPRD reserves the right to adjust practice schedules to accommodate teams that do not get at least one preseason practice time. Call the Athletic Center to make a reservation.
