Planning & Development - Park Acquisition

Parks acquisition staff are always pleased to consider properties nominated by property owners and other interested citizens for potential new parks. The site nomination form provides Parks staff with the basic information they need to evaluate a new site. Once the form is received, preliminary research and review is completed. Then, the site information is added to the overall acquisition inventory.

As funds for acquisitions become available, all properties listed in the inventory are considered. Those most closely matching the District's acquisition priorities and criteria of the specific funding source are pursued. This is an on-going process. Typically, newly acquired property is land-banked until funds are available for development.
