Harman Swim Center Program Description

Harman is proud to offer a variety of fitness classes for all fitness levels and needs.  

Water Exercise Fitness Scale 1-5
  1. Zero to very low impact in the water. Level one classes are water relaxation classes. Focus is on breathing, meditation, and range of movement. No experience needed, acceptable for all fitness levels.
  2. Low to no impact. Focus is on stretching, range of motion, and balance. No experience needed, acceptable for all fitness levels.
  3. Low impact. Focus is on range of motion, stretching, and low aerobic activity. Great program for those new or returning to exercise.
  4. Low to medium impact. Focus is on range of motion, stretching, and medium aerobic activity.
  5. Low to medium impact. Focus on strength, range of motion, and building aerobic activity. This will include 30-40 minutes of aerobic activity.
Aquatics Water Exercise Program Descriptions
* All exercise classes are 55 minutes long unless otherwise specified. Fees: The programs below are part of our fitness program fee structure.

AI CHI: This is a 30-minute shallow water relaxation class suitable for all fitness levels.  It consists of several different slow moving relaxation moves. Ai Chi is a program similar to Tai Chi although it is conducted in the water. Level 1

FLUID MOVES:
  This is a non-impact exercise class developed by the Arthritis Foundation. The program provides soothing exercises to improve strength, flexibility and balance while offering a wonderful support group.  Fluid moves is also appropriate for anyone looking for low impact while rehabilitating from an injury. Level 2

FOREVER FIT:  Enjoy this high-energy, fun, water exercise class.  It’s a perfect way to enhance your flexibility and range of motion. Use the water’s natural buoyancy for support while utilizing special equipment for added resistance, better muscle tone and improved aerobic conditioning.  Level 3
 
KEEPING IT FIT:  Using the water’s natural buoyancy, special equipment and high-energy exercise, it’s the perfect way to improve your flexibility, range of motion and aerobic conditioning.  Join us three days a week for this fun workout. Level 3-4

HEALING WATERS:
  This is a drop-in water exercise program for those with disabilities.  This 90-minute adaptive water program allows you time to work on cognitive or physical disabilities. It also is a time for those recovering from sports injuries.  Please call for detailed information. Level 1-2

LIQUID MOTION:
Join us and exercise to lively music.  Liquid Motion class encourages strength and conditioning using the natural buoyancy of the water as support along with special equipment for added resistance.  A terrific way to improve your range of motion, flexibility and muscle tone.  Level 3-4

NIGHT MOVES: It’s energizing, powerful, uplifting and fun.  Extremely effective for burning calories and toning muscles.  The ultimate aerobic aquatic workout. Level 5

PICK ME UP:  Join us for this Tuesday and Thursday water exercise class.  Let us pick up your spirit as well as your heart rate! This fun class uses equipment and variety to keep the workout fresh as well as challenging. Level 3-4

WEEKEND WARRIOR: Cross train in the water for peak performance!  Challenge yourself with skills and drills in a different environment. This is a motivating and powerful workout to enhance total body conditioning. Level 4-5  

Independent Exercise/Swim Times Descriptions
*The programs below are part of our general admission or frequent user fee structure.

All Age Lap: We ask that all swimmers circle swim while participating. Lap Swim only at this time (no water walking or alternate water exercise at this time.)

Adult Lap: This is a time for the lap swimmer 16 years old or older. We ask that all swimmers circle swim while participating. Lap Swim only at this time (no water walking or alternate water exercise at this time.) 

Deep Water Open Exercise
: This program is in our deep water (over 6 feet). There will be a mixture of width lap swim, water jogging/walking, and personal water fitness going on at the same time.

Family Swim: Children under 18 years must be accompanied in the water by a parent. An adult must be within arm’s reach of all non-swimmers.

Open SwimChildren under 7 years must be accompanied in the water by a parent or guardian. An adult must supervise children under 10 years, but children 7-10 may have the parent supervise from the spectator area. An adult must be in the water and within arm’s reach of any non-swimmer.

Senior Deep Water Swim
: This is for swimmers 55 years old.  A variety of self-directed fitness options are available: width lap swim, water jogging/walking and personal water fitness.

Deep End Synchro
: Synchronized Swimming: This is a fun class for all who want to learn routines and figures. Get a whole body workout while increasing your lung capacity: Level G+ swimmer.

Swim Lessons: Tualatin Hills Park & Recreation District is proud to utilize the American Red Cross "Learn to Swim" skills and progressions. These levels have been modified to best suit our patrons’ needs and to provide more opportunity for success with the additional levels. Please see our activities guide or the parent handbook for detailed description of class levels.

Private Swim LessonsWe offer private and semi-private lessons. Lessons are offered based on instructor availability.  

SPLASH: This is a novice swim team program. The program’s goal is to improve on strokes and conditioning as well as give the child an introduction to competitive swimming in a fun atmosphere! Ages 6-17. Swim Level G and above.
